Biography
Alex Morrison is a 37-year veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces and an award-winning historian, who has written the definitive history of the Cape Breton Highlanders. His book, “The Breed of Manly Men: The History of the Cape Breton Highlanders,” is a painstaking reflection on the contributions of the unit to Canada’s war efforts – beginning with its founding in 1871 and through each of its major deployments during the First and Second World Wars and the War in Afghanistan. Morrison’s lived experience as a Canadian veteran and the depth of his knowledge on the history of the Highland unit make him an indispensable resource for our conference.
